The attempt by Ivana Trump to stop IVANA Helsinki from staging its runway the Mercedes Benz Fashion week in New York was a publicity stunt, according to a lawyer representing Paola Ivana Suhonen, the creative director of the Finnish brand. Ivana Trump, the former wife of real estate mogul Donald Trump, had claimed in a lawsuit that IVANA Helsinki had improperly used her Ivana trademark.

Nordic brands blast off at NY Fashion Week

Odd Molly of Sweden and Finland’s IVANA Helsinki, are staging runway shows this week at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Manhattan. This is the first time that fashion brands from Scandinavia have been on the official list in Bryant Park, running head-to-head with names like Anna Sui, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger.

Before the runway show of IVANA Helsinki started during Copenhagen Fashion Week, a film was shown in which a sad-eyed young model strolled about a granite shoreline in various cute outfits looking longingly at the ocean. This fit with the theme of the Finnish brand’s S/S 2011 collection, called “Where the Fuck is my Sailor.”
